Convicted Of Stealing 165000 Richard Mille Watch

Tadej Pogačar's Watch Thieves Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

Convicted of Stealing $165,000 Richard Mille Watch

Sentencing Follows Guilty Verdict and Guilty Plea

A French court has sentenced two men to four years in prison for stealing the watch of acclaimed cyclist Tadej Pogačar during this year's Paris-Nice race.

The thieves snatched the Richard Mille watch, estimated to be worth $165,000, from Pogačar's wrist as he was riding through Nice. A gift from a sponsor, the watch was later recovered by police.

One of the thieves, who was convicted after pleading guilty during the trial, was also ordered to pay a fine of 10,000 euros ($11,600). The other defendant was found guilty by a jury.

The sentence reflects the seriousness of the crime, which not only involved the theft of a valuable object but also targeted a public figure and a symbol of the sport.
